Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
TypeLemon (“we”, “us”) runs the typing-game website at www.typelemon.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, who else is involved, and what choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at support@typelemon.com.
1. Playing without an account
You can play Solo mode and the mini-games without signing in. In that case your nickname, personal bests, settings and recent runs are stored only in your own browser, and we do not keep a profile about you on our servers.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Nickname. The display name you choose. It is shown to other players in multiplayer races and, if you are signed in, on leaderboards.
- Google sign-in (optional). If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier, email address and display name through Google’s Firebase Authentication. Signing in lets you keep your nickname and history across devices.
- Anonymous sign-in. If you do not use Google, the site may create an anonymous account with a random identifier so that your session and nickname can be kept.
- Messages to us. If you email us, we keep your message and address so we can reply.
Gameplay information
- Leaderboard entries for signed-in players: nickname, typing speed (WPM), accuracy, game mode and the time of the run. Leaderboards are public.
- Recent run history for signed-in players: a short rolling window of recent Solo runs, the best run of recent days, and a few totals such as best WPM and the date you last played.
- Multiplayer. Your nickname and typing progress are shown to the other players in the same race.
- We do not collect your precise location. Leaderboard entries do not include a location.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data. As with any website, our hosting providers receive your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages you request when your browser contacts the site, and may keep this in server logs.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics for Firebase (Google Analytics 4) to understand how the site is used: for example, which games are played, whether a race is completed, and your WPM and accuracy for that event, together with device, browser and approximate location (country or region) that Google derives from your IP address. Events are linked to a pseudonymous identifier based on your Firebase user ID, which lets us see new versus returning players without knowing who you are.
3. Cookies and local storage
The site uses the following, all of which are needed to make it work as described:
- Session cookie (
tp_session). An HTTP-only cookie that keeps you signed in. For nickname-only guest sessions it lasts up to 180 days. - Browser storage. Your browser’s local storage holds your nickname, your language choice, game settings, personal bests and guest run history. Firebase Authentication also keeps your sign-in state in browser storage.
- Google cookies and identifiers. Google Analytics and Google AdSense (see below) may set or read cookies and similar identifiers in your browser.
You can delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings. If you do, the site will forget your local nickname, bests and settings, and you may need to sign in again.
4. Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads on parts of the site, which helps keep the games free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5. How we use information
- To run the games: sign you in, keep your nickname, create multiplayer races, and show leaderboards.
- To keep the site fair and secure, including removing scores that look automated and preventing abuse.
- To understand how the site is used and to improve it.
- To show advertising that helps pay for the site.
- To answer your messages and requests.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We rely on service providers who process information on our behalf, or in their own right as described in their policies:
- Google — Firebase Authentication (sign-in), Google Analytics for Firebase (analytics), Google AdSense (advertising) and Google Fonts (the site loads its fonts from Google, which means Google receives your IP address when you load a page).
- Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery for the website.
- MonsterASP.net — hosting for our game server and API.
- MongoDB Atlas — the database that stores accounts, leaderboard entries and run history.
Some multiplayer features may connect players’ browsers directly to each other. If that happens, the other players in your race can see your IP address, and Google-operated STUN servers are used to set up the connection. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the site.
7. How long we keep information
We keep account, leaderboard and run-history data for as long as your account exists and as needed to run the games. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings. Data stored only in your browser stays there until you clear it. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see section 9).
8. Security and international processing
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and HTTP-only session cookies, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To make a request, email support@typelemon.com from the address linked to your account (or tell us your nickname) and we will respond as soon as we can.
- Play without signing in to keep your data on your own device.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- Opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
- Control personalised ads as described in section 4.
10. Children
TypeLemon is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Links to other sites
The site links to third-party websites, such as the creators of our game artwork. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site where appropriate.
13. Contact
